This is a real client and he was no dummy. When I started working with him, he already knew a lot about branding and marketing but he didn’t have time to keep hiring and firing agencies.

Why are my ads not performing as well as they used to?
Like I said before, agencies aren’t moving quickly enough.
It’s worse than that though.
They will never be able to move quickly enough ever again. The agency business model requires that they spend as little time as possible on your account so they can keep their price low enough for you not to fire them. So one media buyer might be overseeing 3, 4 or maybe even a dozen clients at once.
There’s just no way they can be testing and scaling every day, which is what you need to be successful on MEDIA platforms right now.
Ad agencies are facing three major challenges and they are passing that on to you.
Attribution. When Apple released iOS 14 it broke Meta’s conversion tracking. Since then, agencies have been flying blind. This problem is solved, but not by agencies.
Inability to keep talent. Agency turnover is more than 30% now. That means that the team you hired is rarely the same team that you’re going to have to fire in a few months. Maybe it’s a gen-z work ethic. Maybe it’s a pandemic hangover. Maybe, getting yelled at by clients isn’t a pleasant existence. Whatever the cause, the results are the same.
